A Bloody Situation

A Bloody Situation is a dialogue based, surreal slice-of-life animated short that follows a day in a Palestinian community, where the magical and the political are woven into the mundane. Through a collage of everyday moments of radio snippets and a hair salon chatter, we meet teen Nara. Her ordinary day gets upended by an awkward encounter with Ms Moodswings, an occasional customer, and a surreal personification of menstruation. The film is a tapestry of interrupted life, where coming-of-age and agency are just another thread alongside news updates and small talk, asking how we grow up when the background is never just background.
