A Dead Goat Does Not Fear the Butcher's Knife

A couple in an African township, faced with economic hardships, are arguing bitterly about whether to send their 14-year-old daughter into a marriage with a wealthy older man. As they argue, their daughter, Zola, walks in unseen by her parents and overhears the crushing words of this argument. Feeling unwanted, she decides on a whim to join a group of would-be migrants embarking on a perilous journey to Europe on a flimsy makeshift boat in search of a better life.
