an excision spell

Riffing on the pedantic style of repeat-after-me self-help & meditation videos, I address the viewer directly and advocate for the renunciation of their allegiance to whiteness. Its’ installation is modular: as a floor-to-ceiling projection, it looms large over the viewer like a portal. The audio plays through parabolic speakers above them, making an intimate experience possible within the larger context of an exhibition space. As a video made specifically for sharing across social media platforms via cellphone, it functions as a type of propaganda, relying on virality to spread its message.
