The Country They Call Life follows Maxine after a positive pregnancy test forces an unplanned decision. As she prepares to take abortion medication, memories of her childhood, religious upbringing and her mother’s death resurface. On the day of the procedure, her boyfriend disappears, leaving her without support. At the clinic, she encounters her estranged father and is pushed to confront unresolved grief. His presence proves to Maxine that no feeling is final, and we are never truly alone.
