Mylissa Fitzsimmons is an award-winning writer and director known for character-driven films exploring themes of connection, isolation, and the quiet emotional landscapes of everyday life. Bringing a DIY sensibility to her work. Collaborating with small cast and crews to create ambitious stories with limited resources. Fitzsimmons began her creative career in her twenties as a photographer and director of documentary films in Seattle, where she documented the city’s music scene. After relocating to Los Angeles, she transitioned into narrative filmmaking. Her work has been recognized and supported by a number of international labs and initiatives. She is a winner of the Sun Valley Film Festival Short Film Lab and an alumna of the Reykjavík Talent Lab in Iceland, a BendFilm Basecamp Fellow, a Half Initiative Mentee. Fitzsimmons made her feature debut with Everything in The End (2021), a film that follows a lonely grieving man traveling through Iceland as the world faces an imminent collapse. The film established her voice as a filmmaker interested in creating deeply human stories with a distinct visual style. With Her second feature, The Long Run (2024), continued her focus on relationships and the emotional undercurrents of people yearning for connection. Her third feature film, Mackenzie, was selected as a US in Progress film for The American Film Festival in Poland. Based on a true story from her childhood growing up in Utah.
