Becoming Ollie

During the global COVID-19 pandemic, nine year old Ollie has a childhood stroke, reshaping their world. To process the experience and understand it as a family, Ollie’s sibling, an aspiring documentary filmmaker, begins making a film with him about the journey. What begins as a story of recovery and reflection, soon evolves into a coming of age journey as Ollie, formerly known as Sophia, comes out as transgender during the documentary, and starts to reflect on how his life has changed in more ways than one. The film offers a portrait of a family navigating life together as honestly and best they can.
